Helen Mirren is sharing her thoughts on the future of James Bond .
The 80-year-old Oscar-winning actress stars in the upcoming film The Thursday Murder Club , where she plays a retired spy. But while she embraces the idea of women in espionage roles, she told Saga Magazine that Bond should remain a man.
“So many women have worked in that world. She’s a manifestation of a reality, that’s for sure,” Helen said of her character Elizabeth, before adding: “But not so much fun as Bond!”
She continued, “I’m such a feminist, but James Bond has to be a guy. You can’t have a woman. It just doesn’t work. James Bond has to be James Bond, otherwise it becomes something else.”
The comments come as fans continue to speculate about who will step into the 007 role following Daniel Craig
