Regarding Lynn Schmidt's column " The tornado devastated Black neighborhoods. Where was the BLM organization? " (Aug. 17): Many organizations were on the ground in North City after the tornado. The People's Response (Spearheaded by Action St Louis , For the Culture St. Louis , etc.), the Fountain Park Oasis (including groups like the T , The Party for Socialism and Liberation ) and others which have also been active in the original Ferguson protests and in the George Floyd protests.
Many of these groups provided valuable help on the ground and provided services to thousands of St. Louis residents. People like Kayla Reed are nationally recognized by the Movement for Black Lives. Schmidt's column ignored the immense work put in by these activists.
