‘Outer Banks SQUARED’ at Seaside Art Gallery

Seaside Art Gallery owner Melanie Smith called for artists contributing to the “Outer Banks SQUARED THE ART SHOW” to create Outer Banks themed art in a square format of any size. Giant to small square paintings created by local and east coast artists will be on display through Aug. 30.
Why squares? It provides a challenge to the artist regarding composition, says Smith. “Because when an artist does a composition, a lot of times they’re working on like the golden rule idea of composition or in thirds, and squares are harder to divide up into those balances,” she explains.
Plus, says Smith, a square format can also att
