WACO, Texas — The Cameron Park Zoo in Waco is mourning the loss of three of its beloved animals, the zoo has stated.
The zoo said it has had to say goodbye to three residents in recent weeks, American alligator Marie, greater kudu Kali and jaguar Tukari.
Marie arrived in Waco in 2008 and was estimated to be around 19 years old, according to the zoo. The zoo described Marie as "quiet and steady," and a "familiar presence along the water's edge." Marie reportedly died due to reproductive issues.
Kali, a greater kudu, reportedly joined the zoo in 2013 from the Dallas Zoo. The zoo said Kali lived to the "extraordinary" age of 20, making her the oldest female of the species in any U.S. zoo. Kali reportedly died of age-related health issues, the zoo said.
