BOULDER — George Hegamin understands now.
The 6-foot-7 Colorado offensive line coach, who played with Deion Sanders on the Dallas Cowboys in the 1990s, understands what it’s like when people walk behind him.
It’s thanks to 6-foot-7 Larry Johnson III, a Tennessee transfer who arrived in Boulder this summer.
“‘Do you know (that) I finally get what people see when they’re behind me?’” Hegamin said he told Johnson. “He’s that huge.”
Johnson, a junior from Savannah, Ga., has certainly made a solid first impression with the Buffaloes. After spending one year at Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College and the last two as a reserve lineman for the Volunteers, this is Johnson’s first real chance to be a starter at the power conference level.
