LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - After multiple reports, Texas Tech coach Joey McGuire confirmed on his “What’s Next!” podcast that RB Quinten Joyner has torn his ACL.

McGuire said it was a non-contact injury.

“I hate it so much for him just because of how well he has done in the spring, summer and camp,” McGuire said on the episode. “He has really come in here and been a pro. We’ve asked him to do a lot of stuff that he has not done before ... He’s really taken to it so it’s unfortunate.”

Joyner, a sophomore, transferred to Texas Tech after spending two years at USC. McGuire said Joyner was one of the early additions from the transfer portal class.

“We’re going to put our arm around him .. We have the best people in the world to take care of this stuff so we will,” McGuire said.
