JACKSON, Miss. -- Governor Tate Reeves has scheduled a special election for Ward One Commissioner in the City of Clarksdale, following a court ruling that illegal ballots changed the outcome of the race.
The election will be held on Tuesday, November 18, and will feature only two candidates on the ballot: Timothy W. “Bo” Plunk and Ray Sykes.
The decision stems from the April 22, Second Democratic Primary Election, which Plunk contested in the Circuit Court of Coahoma County.
On July 10, Special Judge Jeff Weill, Sr. entered an Agreed Order for Special Election, stating there were enough illegal ballots cast to alter the result, making it impossible to determine the will of the voters.
The court vacated the original results and directed Governor Reeves to call a new election.
