MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- WREG toured xAI's supercomputer in Boxtown on Monday after xAI claimed that their technology and multi-million dollar investment will be part of the cure to Memphis.
"We don't have to rely on the grid to generate our power. We generate our own power. We send that power to the Mega Packs and then we run our computers," said xAI Engineer and Operations Manager Brent Mayo.
Mayo said those power packs are charged by the company's controversial generators, but said they're building a solar farm that will soon do that work.
"That allows us to ride through this demand and response curtailment period, with a full load going into the computer, and not relying on TVA and MLGW," said Mayo.
