MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Memphis Goodwill is marking the 10th anniversary of its Excel Center by expanding into a second Shelby County location.

Construction will begin this month on a new 30,000-square-foot facility on Austin Peay Highway near Covington Pike, with plans to open in the fall of next year.

The site, a former Goodwill retail store, will house 12 classrooms, four labs, a career center, a student center, and a drop-in childcare center. It will also include administrative offices to support current and future Excel Center operations across the county.

The Excel Center is a free high school for adults, offering the chance to earn a diploma, industry-recognized certifications, and college credits.
