DENVER (KDVR) — Colorado's unrelenting hot weather has claimed a victim: Anderson Farms' annual "U-Pick Sunflower" season.
For many, making a trip north from the Denver metro to Erie and spending the day cutting sunflowers, taking photos and having fun on the farm has become an annual pilgrimage. The farm attraction launched five years ago, but this year, the season was cut abruptly short.
On Friday, Aug. 15, Anderson Farms took to social media to announce that its longstanding sunflower season was ending due to poor field conditions.
