Authorities in Connecticut are investigating a fire that claimed the lives of two adults and two children as it tore through a residence early Monday morning.
Firefighters responded to the home on Shultas Place in Hartford around 2:36 a.m., finding the residence engulfed in flames when they arrived at the scene, NBC Connecticut reports .
The fire and its intensity reportedly prevented fire crews from entering the home.
In addition to the two children and two adults who died in the fire, four other people were taken to the hospital with injuries, NBC Connecticut reported.
Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam told the station it is a “sad day” for all Hartford residents.
