ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The Food Bank of Central Louisiana received a major boost this week thanks to Rapides Regional Medical Center.
On August 18, the hospital donated $10,000 to the food bank.
RRMC CEO Vernon Jones said the goal is to expand the hospital’s reach within the community.
“One in four children has food insecurities, and our ability to be able to support the community in this initiative helps close that gap on the food insecurities in Central Louisiana,” Jones said.
The hospital also donated 2,600 pounds of cereal.
Employees collected the boxes through a sculpture contest, where they built a sandcastle titled Hunger is No Day at the Beach .
