DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Decatur City Council approved a resolution Monday that will allow the city to allocate $2.3 million of Motor Tax Funds (MTF) for the annual road restoration project.

This phase of the project will restore over a dozen different sections of road across the city, in various neighborhoods.

Director of Decatur Public Works Matt Newell explained that they use a system to rank and prioritize what streets have the most need for improvements.

"We always have more streets and what we can adequately fund, so we come up with our list and then we work to inspect each of the streets and prioritize which ones can last another year or two or three. We use that to come up with a five-year plan, and organize the streets that need repair based on that five-year plan," Newell said
