Storms slammed a number of Chicago suburbs Monday evening, dumping several inches of rain and causing flooding throughout the region.
Across the area, a number of roads, streets and underpasses were closed, with many closures reported in the southwest suburbs and northwest Indiana.
Flood warnings were issued for portions of DeKalb, Kane, Kendall and LaSalle counties, with the National Weather Service saying flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
"A Flood Warning means flooding is imminent or may already be occurring," the NWS explained on its website. "Persons along rivers, creeks, and other waterways should take immediate precautions to protect life and property."
The warning was set to remain in effect until 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.
