LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - In the heat of King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church, community leaders looked to strike while the iron is hot.

Councilmembers held a community safety meeting Monday, only a few days after two mothers, Redaja Williams and Jermia Offutt , were killed in two separate shootings. Hundreds of people from different parts of the Metro gathered to give their ideas.

Rayshawn Ordway came with an entire list of ideas, including heavy police reforms and addressing economic inequities.

“It was very relatable to my fellow Louisvillians that this is too much,” Ordway said. “We’ve been going through a lot when it comes to gun violence.”

Several simple ideas were floated, like bringing more murals into West Louisville and doing more youth outreach.
