MOUNDSVILLE — Marshall County, West Virginia has been known for many things — the Mound, the former state prison, Grand Vue Park and Jim Cochran.
Cochran, until his most recent years, had been a fixture in the realm of journalism throughout the county, in particular his beloved city of Moundsville. Cochran, whose reporter/columnist career spanned more than 70 years, died last week at the age of 90.
Until an unfortunate fall took away his ability to physically walk the beat, Cochran could be found at just about any and every function, big or small, in his beloved hometown. From a photo session with 4-H members to high school sports, Cochran was there to keep readers informed.
