LEBANON, Ind. — An $800-million investment just got the green light in Boone County, impacting thousands of acres of farmland.
The Lebanon City Planning Commission approved it Monday evening.
This new data center is the third project for Lebanon's new LEAP District , which was introduced last year .
"We made sure everything met our standards that we set out and forth. They're very high standards, high buffers for protection of neighbors," said Lebanon Mayor Matt Gentry.
Gentry said they thought carefully about the project, which will sit on about 1,500 acres of land west of Interstate 65 in Lebanon.
The $800 million project won't cost taxpayers anything, according to Gentry.
"It's going to generate quite the bit of tax increment, tax base for the next 15 years," he said.
