SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. - A second human case of the West Nile virus of 2025 was reported last week in Shelby County, health officials said Monday.

The Shelby County Health Department (SCHD) reported the first case in March and said it was related to travel. As for the second case, health officials did not release further details.

Health experts say the West Nile virus can cause serious illness and lead to hospitalization or death. However, most cases cause no symptoms and go undetected.
