A portion of Caldwell County will experience a water outage Tuesday.

The Caldwell County Water District will shut down water service to about 400 customers beginning at 8 a.m.

The outage will affect all customers on Highway 293 North and nearby side roads. Crews will be installing new valves on the water mains in that area.

General Manager Cody Kirby said recent main breaks, caused by failing infrastructure, have made it difficult to isolate problem areas without disrupting service to hundreds of customers. Another 400 to 500 customers are also expected to see lower water pressure during the work.

A boil water advisory remains in effect until further notice.
