The semi-decomposed remains of Abel Nsapato, a fourth-year medical student at the University of Zambia’s Ridgeway Campus, have been discovered near Sun City Hotel, close to Muvi TV in Lusaka.

Nsapato had been reported missing on August 9, 2025, after failing to return to campus. The grim discovery was made behind the hotel and reported to police by Kalingalinga Councilor Mukubesa Nyoni.

Police Public Relations Officer Rae Hamoonga stated that officers found the deceased lying face-up, dressed in black jeans, a light-blue sweatshirt, and black-and-white canvas shoes. An empty pesticide bottle was found nearby, raising suspicions of suicide by poisoning.

A postmortem examination conducted at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) confirmed that the death was consistent with poisoning.
