Back in June, a Yellowstone visitor was caught flying a drone over Lamar Valley, in violation of a crucial ban. The drone pilot, a man who has still not been publicly identified, was seen buzzing an osprey nest, intentionally trying to scare off the raptors.

The osprey pair, who were in the process of adding material to reinforce their nest, took flight in a panic, with one almost hitting the drone. California resident Vince Botkin confronted the drone pilot and a woman he was with, and the couple responded by landing the drone on Botkin's vehicle before flying it above his head in an intimidation attempt.

Botkin took photos of the couple and reported the incident to the National Park Service, which apprehended the perpetrators. Now, the drone pilot faces a maximum penalty of a $5,000 fi
