YOUNGSTOWN A 14-year-old accused of a March homicide is scheduled to go on trial in Mahoning County Juvenile Court today.
Willie Wilks faces charges in the death of 19-year-old Keondre Lewis, who was found with a gunshot wound to the head on March 23.
Lewis was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
During a June hearing, witnesses who were in the home on Rhoda Avenue at the time of the shooting testified they heard a loud bang and saw Wilks run out the front door. They said they did not see Wilks with a gun, but said they knew he had one.
A Youngstown Police detective sergeant previously testified that Wilks repeatedly said "my brother, my brother" during an interview, noting Wilks' brother had been killed a week earlier.
The trial is expected to last two days.
