BRIDGEPORT — Charleston and Wheeling were picked on Monday by the Mountain East Conference volleyball coaches as the preseason divisional favorites, the league announced.
The Golden Eagles were picked with seven votes to win the South Division, where the team finished second to West Virginia State in 2024 and lost to MEC champion Wheeling in the tournament semifinals.
Wheeling, which has either won or shared the North Division title in each of the league's 12 years of existence, received nine votes.
The preseason poll results were compiled via a vote of the conference’s 11 head coaches.
The defending South Division champion Yellow Jackets received three votes for first place and 49 points overall to finish behind UC's 57 votes. Concord also received one first place vote for 46 points t
