Police in Rumphi have arrested Joel Gondwe, 35, John Chanza, 56, and Murateni Nyirenda, 39, for being found in possession of 335 litres of petroleum products without licence on 18 August 2025.
Rumphi police publicist Noel Kamchenga said the trio were arrested at Bembe, Mwachanda, and Chitanga Trading Centres respectively after police were conducting rural patrols in the district.
The three suspects will appear before court to answer the charge of being found in possession of petroleum products without licence.
Meanwhile police in the district have warned the citizenry that it is dangerous and illegal to possess, sell or keep petroleum products without licence and if found will be arrested.
