ESPN has decided to axe a documentary about former NFL player Colin Kaepernick.

The eight-part series about the quarterback's life and career was directed by Spike Lee.

But ESPN announced that the documentary would not be released.

A statement read, "ESPN, Colin Kaepernick and Spike Lee have collectively decided to no longer proceed with this project as a result of certain creative differences.

"Despite not reaching finality, we appreciate all the hard work and collaboration that went into this film."

Director Lee also confirmed that the project was being canceled but refused to elaborate on why.

"It’s not coming out. That’s all I can say," he told Reuters.

"I signed a nondisclosure. I can’t talk about it."

The documentary was announced in 2020 and production began in 2022.
