(WJW) – The Food and Drug Administration is actively investigating contamination reports in frozen shrimp products sold at Walmart.

According to a press release from the FDA, the U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) alerted the FDA to the detection of Cesium-137 (Cs-137) in shipping containers at four U.S. ports.

The FDA tested for the presence of radioactive materials and confirmed a sample of breaded shrimp was positive for Cs-137.

The products were initially processed by BMS Foods of Indonesia.

The FDA is now working with border protection to prevent any contaminated products reaching store shelves.

According to the alert, while testing has not confirmed contamination in any product in stores, “the product appears to have been prepared, packed, or held under insanitary conditions
