LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The Sportsmen for the Hungry’s annual “Clean Out the Freezer and Pantry Day” is coming back around this Sunday.
The drive-thru and drop-off service event will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, in the Pathology Laboratory parking lot, located at 830 West Bayou Pines Drive in Lake Charles.
The event encourages residents to clean out their freezers and pantries to help feed the hungry in our area. All donations will be delivered directly to Abraham’s Tent, a local non-profit organization whose mission is to provide food for the poor and hungry in Lake Charles every day of the year.
Accepted items include:
Wrapped and labeled frozen meat and fish (wild and domestic)
Canned or boxed food
Rice
Cooking oil
Seasonings
Vegetables
Paper goods
