A flood advisory remains in effect for northeast Illinois including Cook, DuPage, Kane and Will counties, weather officials said.

Shortly after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, Doppler radar indicated, as well as automated rain gauges showed between 2 to 5 inches of rain has fallen in the past 12 hours. The heaviest rain fell near the I-80 corridor from Joliet to Lansing, according to the National Weather Service.

Officials predicted up to one inch of additional rain may fall in showers and thunderstorms in the morning hours.

Officials said the expected additional rainfall will delay how quickly flood waters will recede.

Current conditions at O’Hare International Airport are overcast at 74 degrees. At Midway Airport on the Southwest Side, conditions are the same at 75 degrees. Originally Published:
