A 14-year-old Maine boy has been accused of setting fires in Rangeley.

The boy allegedly started a number of small fires at a Pleasant Street property on Friday, according to Lt. Aaron Turcotte of the Maine State Police.

Police also found that the vacant home, owned by a Massachusetts resident, had been ransacked, Turcotte said Tuesday morning.

The fires caused only minor damage.

The 14-year-old, who was on supervised release, is suspected of setting another fire at the Saddleback View Apartments in Rangeley on Aug. 9, according to Turcotte.

The teen was charged with arson and taken to Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland.

The investigation is ongoing.
