Orlando Bloom believes that all of the original Pirates of the Caribbean cast would need to return for a new film to succeed. The British actor, who plays Will Turner in the swashbuckling franchise, addressed the future of the series at Fan Expo Chicago over the weekend, and insisted that a successful new instalment needs two elements - a good script and the original cast. "Everything is in the writing, right? Everything is on the page, and I think there's definitely, I'm sure there's a way to create something," he told the crowd, according to Entertainment Weekly. "I would personally love to see everybody back. I think the way to win on that one is to get everybody back. If they can, and if everybody wanted to go back." He added, "My thing is, if the script was great and - ideally it was everybody - it'd be kind of like in for a penny, in for a pound, you know." Bloom starred alongside Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley and Geoffrey Rush in the original trilogy, and made a cameo appearance in the fifth and currently final film, 2017's Dead Men Tell No Tales. Offering a guess at the studio's plans for the series, Bloom continued, "What they're thinking... is how to do it. Do you bring in a female leading character that replicates (Depp's character) Jack (Sparrow) in some way? I don't know. The jury is out on how to do it again, but if (the script) was great, (I'd do it)." Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently expressed his hope for a revival featuring the original foursome. A spin-off starring Margot Robbie is also in development.
