JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - If you missed last year’s total eclipse of the sun , you have a chance to see another one. In 20 years.
The last time the state of Arkansas was in the path of totality was April 8, 2024.
The next time a solar eclipse will appear in the Natural State’s sky will be Aug. 12, 2045.
The majority of Northeast Arkansas will be just outside of the path of totality. A view from Jonesboro would cover 97.97 percent of the sun .
The rest of the state is, for the most part, considered in the 100 percent totality zone.
While Arkansas will have to wait until 2045, the next total solar eclipse in the United States will occur in 2044. Montana, along with North and South Dakota, will be in the path of totality.
