SEQUIM — A Sequim fire official has earned a national credential that recognizes leadership in the fire service.

Clallam County Fire District 3 says Battalion Chief Elliott Jones has received the Chief Fire Officer designation from the Commission on Professional Credentialing. He’s now one of just over four thousand fire officers worldwide to hold the title.

The designation requires a peer-reviewed process and is based on factors such as experience, education, professional development, and community involvement.

Fire Chief Justin Grider says the recognition reflects Jones’s ongoing commitment to advancing his skills and serving the community.

The designation lasts three years and requires Jones to continue professional development and service to maintain the credential.
