People stuck aboard a delayed Alaska Airlines plane last week were treated to an unexpected performance by fellow passengers jazz saxophonist Dave Koz and his band, who broke out their instruments to musically pass the time.

A video posted Aug. 11 on Instagram of Koz and the band playing on the plane quickly went viral, with more than 2 million views on Instagram.

Koz was traveling from St. Louis to Seattle as part of his Summer Horns 2025 tour when mechanical issues forced the plane to divert to Boise, Idaho, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Stranded on the tarmac while repairs were made, Koz and his bandmates turned the aisle into a stage and “brought smiles bright as the sun,” said saxophonist Marcus Anderson, who posted the video on his Instagram page.
