Several schools in the Raymore-Peculiar School District had their first day cut short, as power issues persisted after morning storms.

The district announced that Ray-Pec High School, South Middle School, Ray-Pec Academy and the LEAD Center would all be dismissing around 9:30 a.m. Advertisement

The ongoing power outage issues affected air conditioning, phones, internet, meals and safety systems, the district said on social media.

Around 7 a.m., the district posted that school remained in session despite power outages around the community.

District staff attempted to work around the outages, but ultimately were unable to continue the learning day safely for those affected schools.
