YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) -- An investigation into two young children found alone at a Youngstown gas station led to a home on the south side, where 10 children were living in deplorable conditions, police said.
The 18-month-old and 3-year-old children were found in the 2000 block of South Avenue around 11:20 a.m., and no one called 911 to report a missing child for over an hour, according to a police report.
Police then went to a home on East Dewey Avenue, where they found Melissa Kanos, the mother of at least one of the children. Reports said that Kanos thought that the child had only been gone for 10 to 15 minutes, but later admitted that she had last seen the child at 11 a.m.
