GREENWOOD COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) -- Two earthquakes were reported in Greenwood County late Monday night and early Tuesday morning.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the first magnitude 2.2 quake shook an area near the Old Laurens Road bridge over the Saluda River around 11:30 p.m. Monday.

The second earthquake, measured as a magnitude 1.7, hit about 6 miles northeast of Greenwood shortly after 3 a.m.

Both earthquakes were shallow, occurring at depths of less than 0.2 miles below the surface, the USGS said.

A magnitude 2.7 earthquake was reported on Thursday morning in Polk County.
