GLENDALE, Ky. (WAVE) - The first BlueOval SK battery to be sold to a customer rolled off the assembly line at the first Glendale plant Tuesday.
That milestone comes almost four years after the announcement where Governor Andy Beshear and company leaders celebrated the $5.8 billion investment. Batteries at the plant will go into the all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning trucks.
“We are proud to build batteries at our Kentucky 1 facility that will power next-generation electric vehicles,” BlueOval SK CEO Michael Adams said in a statement. “The start of production is a significant milestone that strengthens our position in the electric vehicle battery market.”
