ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Bernalillo County Detention Center confirmed an inmate died Sunday after having a medical emergency. Despite life-saving efforts, the 62-year-old male was pronounced dead by University of New Mexico Hospital staff.

MDC says the inmate was booked into the facility Saturday morning around 7:18 a.m. On Sunday, around 9:12 p.m. the man experienced a medical emergency. MDC staff and the UNM Hospital medical team responded and transported the man to the medical unit. MDC says the man then suffered a second medica
