The Postal Service will release a Forever stamp to honor the late President Jimmy Carter on what would have been the peanut farmer’s 101st birthday. On Oct. 1, the USPS stamp featuring a 1982 portrait oil painting of the former president will be available for purchase.

“The stamp program celebrates the best in American culture, places and people, and it is difficult to consider a more fitting honoree than former President Jimmy Carter,” said Peter Pastre, the USPS vice president of government relations and public policy, in a press release .
