KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — It breaks our hearts to share with you that WBIR anchor emeritus Bill Williams has passed away. He was 91.

Reactions from those who worked, knew and loved Bill have poured in.

WBIR Anchor Robin Wilhoit worked closely with Bill starting in the 1990s and shared these words at the top of our noon newscast.

"He remained a mentor and a friend to countless journalists, including myself. I was so fortunate to have the opportunity to sit next to him and to learn from him for so many years, not only the art of journalism, but the art of life," Wilhoit said. "In short, he was a force of nature. We love him and we will miss him so so very much."

WBIR General Manager David Hunt said Williams was the heart and soul of the station.
