JEFFERSON CITY — Gov. Mike Kehoe has announced the next Missouri Attorney General.
Catherin L. Hanaway will succeed Andrew Bailey when he is sworn in as co-deputy director of the FBI on Sept. This will make Hanaway the first woman to hold the attorney general position in the state's history, according to the news release from Kehoe's office.
“The role of Attorney General is incredibly significant for state government, serving as the chief legal officer of the state, and there is not a more qualified person to serve Missourians as our next Attorney General than Catherine Hanaway,” Kehoe says in the release. “A former U.S. Attorney, Catherine is a talented, trusted prosecutor who has a passion for enforcing the rule of law.
