BLOOMINGTON — Monroe County Democrats have elected Rob Council as the party’s new vice chair. Council was chosen during a caucus held Sunday, marking the third such election for the party in the last six months.
Council, who works as a compliance officer in the city of Bloomington’s HAND (Housing and Neighborhood Development) Department, will now serve as the backup to county chair Chrissie Geels. Geels was elected to the top position last month after the resignation of Samuel Ujdak, who had held the role for only three and a half months.
A familiar face in local politics, Council was a candidate earlier this year to fill a vacancy on the Monroe County Council. The position was ultimately filled by Liz Feitl, who was among several elected officials to attend Sunday’s caucus.
