If you have a teenager, chances are that they have the TikTok app on their smartphone, and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison says that's no accident.
Saying the ubiquitous app is the digital version of nicotine, Ellison announced that the state of Minnesota is suing TikTok for engaging in "engineered addiction," preying on young people and violating state law in the process. At a press conference announcing the lawsuit on Tuesday, the AG accused TikTok of purposely designing features that lure teens to compulsively and excessively use the app for the company's financial gain.
