About 2,400 residents without a family doctor in Glanbrook and Binbrook will be able to join a practice that is expanding thanks to new provincial funding.

However, the $834,200 being given to the Hamilton Family Health Team (HFHT) by the Ford government is far from the roughly $7 million requested to provide primary care to all residents with a postal code that starts with L0R .

“Our proposal was significantly higher,” said Gloria Jordan, CEO of the HFHT. “Getting 14 per cent of that, we said, ‘Hey, we’ll take it’ and we’ll go with it because we know that’s still going to help a lot of people. Do we need more? Absolutely.”
