INDIANAPOLIS — Former New York Times reporter Marc Stein and ESPN are reporting that the Indiana Pacers have agreed to a contract extension with head coach Rick Carlisle.

Carlisle has led the Pacers on deep postseason runs in each of the last two seasons, which came after a 2023 contract extension.

In the 2024-25 season, the Pacers made it to Game 7 of the NBA Finals , after reaching the Eastern Conference Finals the season before.

Carlisle will be coaching a much different Pacers team in the next season. Star Tyrese Haliburton will miss the entire year as he recovers from the Achilles injury that knocked him out of the Finals. Veteran center Myles Turner signed with the rival Milwaukee Bucks.
