After a whirlwind of a process and much public debate, the Lubbock City Council has given final approval to two items — UDC Amendments and Impact Fees.
During a special-called meeting on Monday, in a 5-2 vote, the city council moved forward with a plan to roll back Impact Fees on builders and developers to $0. Council members Christy Martinez-Garcia and Tim Collins were the ones who voted no.
Over the course of the past couple of weeks, this item has drawn both public support and ire as no one knew where the council was going to set it for the next five years. After listening to three ideas last week on where to set Impact Fees, the council gave its initial approval to do without Impact Fees moving forward.
