A rare astronomical treat will be taking place during this month’s lunar cycle; however, no one will be able to see it.
A seasonal Black Moon will occur on Aug. 23 for most of the planet, but for regions far behind Coordinated Universal Time, it will be the day before, on Aug. 22.
People won’t be able to see it since the Black Moon is a New Moon, according to Time and Date.
“During this lunar phase, the moon lies between Earth and the Sun, with its unlit side facing us. It also rises and sets around the same time as the Sun, meaning it’s too close to its bright glare to be seen,” author Eloise Elliott wrote.
