Auburn football’s claimed national championship count rose to nine on Tuesday, as the school announced it will recognize seven additional titles , adding to the ones in 1957 and 2010.

One of those newly recognized titles came in 2004, a team that went 13-0 and was led by now U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville. The former head coach uploaded a video to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, celebrating the news.

“I want to congratulate the 2004 Auburn Tigers football team on being recognized as the true national champions of college football of 2004,” Tuberville said. “There is no doubt that the 2004 Auburn team was the best team in the country for the entire season.”
