DUBLIN, Ohio (WCMH) -- World champion sprinter and Dublin Coffman graduate Abby Steiner announced she will be taking a step back from competing after undergoing a third surgery on her left foot.
The 2022 American 200m champion said that after undergoing surgery this year, she passed the National Strength and Conditioning Association's certified strength and conditioning specialist exam to pursue a degree in exercise science.
The 25-year-old was accepted into the University of South Carolina and will work towards a master's degree while taking a break from competitive sprinting. "Taking a step back from running for the time being to give myself the time I need to get healthy while pursuing some other passions of mine," said Steiner on Instagram.
