Erin Hayne was loved by everyone he knew, whether among his family or the fishing community, his brother said.
Mitchell McNeill said that, as a teen, his brother quickly found a home among his fellow fishermen. He said years of fishing trips with Hayne solidified their bond and they each have a permanent reminder on their right biceps — matching tattoos of a character in Mandarin that means “brother.”
Hayne, 33, of Casco, was fatally shot last week in Windham while riding his motorcycle. Police have said there was no known connection between Hayne and the shooter , who was identified as 48-year-old James Ford, of Windham. Police said Ford died of an apparent suicide.
